DVHD Association

As a resident of the Dayton View Historic District and a Dayton Community member you're probably wondering, "What is the association working on? How can I get involved?" Well, we're here to answer your questions.

The Association is working to make the Dayton View Historic District one of the best neighborhoods in Dayton, OH! We recently secured a Beautification Grant from Montgomery County and a Mini Grant from the City of Dayton.

What We've Been Working On

A brief overview of what our board has been working on to better your neighborhood.

  • DVHA President is a GCM Board Member and Treasurer for GCM (Gem City Market)
  • DVHA President is Chair of the GCM Building Committee and our Vice President is also an active member of the GCM Building Committee, ensuring DVHD requirements are met. John Gower, Urban Design Developer of CityWide and DVHD resident, is also an active committee member.
  • DVHA President is a Board Member of the SAPC, LLC (Salem Avenue Peace Corridor)
  • Developed a complete Marketing Feasibility Study
  • Developed a Vision/Concepts, presented to the public at a Town Hall at Grandview Auditorium on July 7th
  • Completed a Marketing Strategy
  • Chairing a Committee to develop a land Acquisition and management Strategy for Salem Avenue
  • Team Member working with the City Planning and Engineering Departments to leverage a full redesign of Salem Avenue, based on SAPC’s vision/concepts. Team also includes the Development Group for the “Over the Rhine” in Cincinnati and Citywide Development Corporation.
  • Acquired Properties at 300, 314, 324 and 400 Salem Avenue, using our own personal funds
  • Facilitated the sale of that property for the GCM at less than 50% of appraised value to promote other new developments/investments in our area
  • Proceeds from that sale will be used for other improvements along Salem
  • Completed Gateway sign at Salem and Riverview ($24K investment). $5K from mini-grant, balance from fundraisers
  • Worked with an investor from Columbus on the acquisition of Properties at 652 Superior, 78 Oxford and 72 Oxford. Investor has committed to complete restorations by April, 2019
  • Worked with new buyer of 4 Yale to provide free Design Services for a replacement porch for that property, through the Oregon Group. COA issued and owner is beginning work
  • Worked with the new owner of 1 Yale to acquire COA for repair of roof structure damaged by fire and for a complete new roof.
  • DVHA President is Chairperson for the City of Dayton Landmarks Commission, meeting every two weeks to review all requests for exterior changes/repairs to structures with Historic designations and in all Historic Districts
  • DVHA President is a member of the City of Dayton’s DIY Program, meeting monthly to discuss neighborhood issues
